Mexico Day 5- A Resort Day

Hello colorful resort day! I walked on the beach by myself this morning.
Finally sleeping in for everyone else?  Yes please!
Emma styled my hair for breakfast.
It started raining on our walk to breakfast- hard!
But we didn't mind.
Palm trees and cuties!
After breakfast we walked down the street to the souvenir shops for postcards and water bottle stickers and somewhat to Noah's disappointment but not really, not the $65 plastic sand bucket that  he wanted to take down to the beach.  I know we don't really understand pesos but I think that sweet shop lady didn't really understand dollars! We bought Noah a bucket from our hotel for a fraction of that price.
Such a perfectly lovely little townsquare.  It was so colorful and clean and very perfectly manicured for tourists.
Adam finally figured out what he wanted for a souvenir- a deck of cards!
We had access to two other nearby resorts, so we popped into one for some pina coladas and a round or two of Old Maid.

Then we were off to the beach!
It took us a while to find chairs but it didn't really matter because everyone just wanted to be in the water.
And we weren't able to book any of the excursions day-of but it didn't really matter because everyone just wanted to be in the water.
And when the storm clouds rolled in and it looked like it might rain it didn't really matter because, yep, we just wanted to stay in the water.
The water was incredibly clear and warm-ish and full of beautiful shells.
When everyone had had their fill of salty ocean water, we headed over to the pools and lounged on the water beds and played chicken and squeezed all six of us onto two poolside chairs and ate French fries and hamburgers and drank fruity drinks and watched the people around us and just giggled at the joy of being in Mexico in January. Everything didn't go perfectly but it still felt like a perfect day.
Oh goodness, the girls had fun 'translating' this show back in our room.
More monkeys!
On our way to dinner!
We discovered the monkey bridge!
Look at this majestic baby monkey (that hand belongs to a stranger.  No one in our family is a rule breaker enough to touch or feed a wild monkey when the sign clearly said don't touch or feed a wild monkey!)
Adam wasn't about to take his eyes off of that sneaky monkey.
Such a cool discovery, and these monkeys were not at all nervous about humans.
Our last night of dinner!  We tried out the Mexican steakhouse, although everyone also wanted to go back to the Asian restaurant.  Our table had a lovely view of the ocean.
Some of the food here was really quite good!
Poor Noah- he just does not do well in the blazing hot sun. But he liked the shrimp!
Once the sun went down it was comically dark at our table.  By the time our food arrived we had to use our phone flashlights to figure out what we were eating.
After dinner, more dancing!  We learned all kinds of line dances this night, including some salsa!
Plenty of time to chill after a hot day in the sun.
And lots of drinks to perk us back up.
Cheers to Mexico!
The entertainment for our last night was.... memorable.  But not as memorable as the hour that we spent making fun of it all piled onto the girls beds afterward. The show was a tribute to Mother Nature full of Madonna cover songs and lots of bizarre interpretive dancing and we almost got up and left but it felt like we were frozen to our chairs so we just stayed and watched it all play out and then tried to never speak of it again.
The legs sticking out of the dress should have been our first clue.
The dancing trees should have been our second clue.
What a memorable way to end an otherwise delightful day!
