In an attempt to alleviate the silence that tends to penetrate moments of our days, I have always carried on one-sided conversations with Leah. I'm sure all of you moms know what I'm talking about- "Let's go read some books." "It's time for a nap." "Let's put your shoes on." Since Leah has started talking, it's been much more interesting getting things done around here.
Me: "How about string cheese for a snack?"
Leah: (after a moment of contemplation) "...No..."
Me: ??? "Okay, how about some grapes?"
Leah: (another moment of contemplation) "...No..."
Me: "Ummm, how about pretzel sticks?"
Leah: (A brief pause)...
Me: "Okay! Pretzel sticks it is!"
I wasn't really asking for her opinion in the first place, but now that she can respond, I guess I'll have to be more careful about what I'm saying!
I'm grateful for every new word she says- it brings me that much closer to understanding what is going on in her little head!

Yay! for words! I love it when babies start to talk. My relationship w/Ezra has gotten so much more exciting and interesting since he's started to actually tell me what he's thinking. I'm so excited for you and Leah!
Aww cute video. What a smart girl!
You know, I think Trevor is still on this N word phase. "Can I buy new shoes?" - NO. "Can we watch a new movie at the mall?" -No. "Can you not put your dirty laundry in MY CLEAN laundry basket?" - No.
hehehehehe Ah those men we love :)
Even though I see Leah nearly everyday I still can't believe what a big girl she is becoming! It seems like just yesterday she was a brand new baby!
Sounds like there are some very interesting conversations going on at your house! How funny!
Talking makes life so much easier. It's amazing how just a few words can move your communication so far forward and make your days so much easier!
