First job! Such an exciting milestone, and one that Leah put many hours of thought and worry into before facing the facts that she just couldn't have a full-summer job. Her summer was quite full with a trip to NYC, girls camp, FSY and a color guard season that ate up the entire month of August, leaving her with about three weeks of time that she could show up as a reliable worker to any job. Enter summer pollinating! Jason's dreams came true this summer as he finally had someone to talk to about the current state of the corn at the dinner table.
The job was fun but not too fun, the mornings were early but not too early, the days were long but not too long, the fields were dirty but not too dirty.
She learned the importance of having good coworkers, the grown up reality that summers aren't always for sleeping in, that field bugs can be kind of cute, the joy of a rainy summer day that cancels work, the value of time and a half on Saturdays, the importance of a good playlist and podcast queue, and the delight of a hard-earned after-work treat!
And especially the delight of putting your feet up at the end of a long day.
