Who's That Girl?

Leah had a "first day of school" of sorts today- she attended a one-hour, one-time preschool put on by my little sister's junior high home ec class. Except I don't think they call it home ec anymore. Anyway, I had Jason take some pictures to document the occasion, and I just can't believe how big Leah looks!

Her favorite part of the preschool was making and eating a Froot-Loop necklace, something she thinks she's never done before... like I mentioned a few posts ago, toddler memory makes for such an exciting life!

Bucket List

Another item crossed off the list: one more trip to Kangaroo Zoo

Jason and I came up with a "Bucket List" of things to do before we move from Utah, and it has been a lot of fun crossing things off the list, like trips to Idaho and one last breakfast from Magleby's.

Today was a last-minute hooky trip to the outlets in Park City. They are really hit or miss, and today was a mostly-miss day, except for the Baby Brother, who got a whole lot of new clothes. This seemed to make Leah happy, because she has shown concern over the fact that he is just a "naked, tiny little baby in Mommy's belly" (her words, not mine). My favorite purchase was somewhat-matching shirts that read "Big Sister" and Little Brother" for Leah and the Baby Brother, respectively. (And in case you're wondering, no, the little guy does not have a name that we're refusing to share. Most of the time, we just refer to him as the Baby Brother. We have yet to come up with his name... suggestions?)

Next up on the bucket list... one last visit to the Salt Lake Temple, which we'll do this weekend for our 5 year anniversary!

Trip Highlights

In our 24-hour trip to Idaho, we had to stop at the Idaho Potato Museum.

Leah loved playing on G & G Great's swingset- the same one I played with when I was a kid, and probably the same one my dad played on, too.

Hello Again

I think one of the coolest things about being a little kid is a limited memory. Unless someone or something is presented to Leah on a consistent basis, she forgets all about them/it until next time. This works in my favor for hiding and pulling out toys, especially. And with exciting trips to meet "new relatives". This weekend we met some such relatives with a super short trip to Idaho.

She got to meet my grandma- which was kind of a tough concept to grasp- and got this super cute dolly. Leah named her Leah. Easy enough!

It was good to visit with family one more time while we're so close!

The Silver Lining

This summer is shaping up to be an interesting one. We have quite a few major events lined up (move across the country, have a baby, visit lots of family... you know, that kind of stuff) which is providing us with extreme highs and lows in our schedule. This week is mostly full of lows, until we trek up to Idaho this weekend. So, on my list of things to do today: get the oil changed, go to Baskin Robins 31 cent scoop night, and mail a birthday present. Check, check, and check.

The following items were not on my list of things to do today, yet they managed to squeak in:

1. Wake up at 2 AM. Combination of Leah crying, bladder screaming and baby boy bouncing, plus a brain that doesn't know when to quit, make it impossible to go back to sleep until 4 AM. Ugh.

*Unexpected result: Jason made breakfast while I slept an extra 15 minutes. Yay!

2. Make a sock puppet. Caterpillar inside, butterfly outside, very cute.

*Unexpected result: I managed to drip scalding hot glue from the hot glue gun onto my finger. Ouch! But, in a total mom moment, my first thought was, "Thank goodness that didn't happen to Leah". Still... ouch!

3. Take a long walk around the block after 31 cent scoop night in an effort to burn off some of the sugar just ingested by Leah before bedtime.

*Unexpected result: We stopped and played with the delightfully large family that lives just around the corner. Four kids under 7, with another one due the day after me. Have I found an answer to our long summer days? And a baby buddy, too? Let's hope!

I guess, at the end of the day, I'm just glad to have days that aren't 100% scheduled. The end.

Potty Training- Week 5

Potty training in a day? I'd love to see how effective that method really is. This past week I changed the potty chart so that Leah got one sticker at the end of each day that she didn't have any accidents. And, miraculously, she didn't have any! So today we went out and got Really Big Girl Underwear (literally- I accidentally bought 4T!) with princesses on them. She is thrilled, and so am I. She's doing really well. The next step is getting through the night. She already naps with undies on, because she hates to switch them out for Pull-Ups, and she's always dry after naptime. And I think she's getting the hang of nights, too. She wakes up once in the night to go the bathroom, and is fairly dry when she wakes up in the morning. Hooray! I hope we are closer to the finish line than the starting line!
