Tree Rush Tradition

We finally made it to Tree Rush in September! It was absolutely worth waiting for Noah's shoulder to heal, and I think we'd all agree that it was the best adventure we've had there so far- just kidding I've loved every time we've gone, but this time the night lights were  exceptionally magical!
There are so many gospel lessons to be learned from adventures like these- I chose not to join the kids on one of the runs that seemed a little hard, and I hated every minute of being alone on the easier path! We can do harder, better, more rewarding things when we lean on and support each other!
I also love the gospel lesson that we have anchor points and guards in place, not to keep us from having fun, but to keep us safe and happy and in the most secure places!
Excuse me, who gave these Halloween decorations permisson to be so adorable?
The weather was *perfect*, the lines were short, the music was a little insane (heavy metal night) and the company was just delightful! We love this tradition!
We climbed until we couldn't climb anymore!
And then the boys decided to tackle one of the hardest 3 runs in the park. They were way too brave!
Emma and I specifically requested the most 'whimsy' run in the park- so cute!
Once we were finally, really, officially done, we headed downtown to get some ice cream and pictures with a Wicked cybertruck!
Well earned ice cream brownie sundaes!
Not pictured was the father, who "isn't" allowed inside Tree Rush because he will surely try to turn our backyard into an Iowa version of this Nebraska gem, but joined us as the driver and met up with the Salts to watch the BYU game. We were all really glad to be in the truck and to have him as our driver as the last 10 minutes of the drive home was the RAINIEST RAIN STORM we have ever driven through. Thankfully it hit when we were close to home and able to easily navigate our way through the torrential downpour.
Long live the Tree Rush tradition!

Sweet September

Life really settled in and got serious quickly this fall! September means fully back to school, but it also means a lot of fun along the way!
Poor Noah got left with this lunchbox one morning.
Emma, helpful big sister that she is, has taken it upon herself to help Noah prepare for any touching that may happen between Prince Eric and Ariel in the fall musical. He hates it.
Letters from Leah! Always unexpected, always a delight!
One Sunday, we all matched so we had to take a picture!
Friday night lights are the best part of the fall.
The sunrises that reward the kids for their 6:30 AM practices are pretty incredible too!
Look at these characters!
Locked. In.

High brass dinner parties are always entertaining.
Noah considered switching to percussion this fall, which would have made the father's secret dreams of having a percussionist in the family come true,
but then he remembered how good he is on the trombone! What a stud.
Leah is with us every week, and we always try to take a family picture! What a bunch of realtime snapshots of life on a Tuesday!
One night Leah and I had extra time together, so we brainstormed an acronym for her goals- IDEA seems much better than the first attempt (DIE). It stands for Initiate, Diligent, Earnest, and Amable (friendly)!
Do you?!
Sweet pup, she always views clean laundry as an invitation to snuggle up.
Even when I offer her her baby blankie.
Bird-nado! That is a bajillion turkey vultures!
Nine turkey-turkeys!
The turkey council was making some very important decisions this fall. We decided that they cast their votes by standing up or laying down.
"When I was a kid we didn't have TV! We just watched the birds out the window."
I promised Leah I would wear her vintage Stake Smoke-off t-shirt to this year's picnic. I felt so mean!
These sticky guys have been on our ceiling since February! They come down all the time, then get thrown back up again. Spiderman fell into a downward dog!
I love hearing jazz music on a random Tuesday in September!
