Adam is 11!

There wasn't much time to waste after we moved- just one week later it was time to celebrate Adam's eleventh birthday!  Like Hagrid said, "It's not every day yer young man turns eleven, now is it?"
And we started the day off right- with Legos and pumpkin waffles!
 And more Legos,
and a Harry Potter themed birthday, of course, including floating letters,
a feast in the great hall,
with Chick-fil-a nuggets, of course,
and a Hagrid cake.
Jason and I offered to dress up like Professor McGonnagall and Hagrid, but the look he gave us clearly said NO.  Still, we held a potions class in the new sunroom,

and I love that these boys were all so cautious and curious about the flaming chemical reactions.

They played a good game of Quidditch in the yard

that solicited a lot of laughs
and ended with a water balloon fight.
And we ended the party with butterbeer and a search for the Tri-Wizard tournament cups that were hidden in the Forbidden Forest and guarded by a Horcrux- luckily everyone made it out alive!
These cute girls helped me capture the beautiful sunset!
It was a great way to celebrate our favorite Adam!

Oh Adam!  Eleven years old and he is just as delightful as ever!  Happy and curious and kind and always offering to jump and and get something for me or volunteering to read a scripture or say a prayer- Adam is a great joy in our family!

He's the cool big brother that Noah's friends love to play with, and he has the cute friends that his little sister likes having around.  He always includes everyone in his games, and he comes up with some of the craziest ideas with his best friend Ben- like the Lego Pug!
We ordered a trampoline two weeks before we moved in hopes that it would arrive in time for Adam's birthday party, but it arrived the week after and the kids have all been taking full advantage of it ever since, playing games that I don't understand like "Tuna Noodle Casserole" and "Here Wilson, Wilson."
Adam is my most avid blog reader- I can often find him poring over the stories of his life, and he prompts me to write down the funny things that he hears and events he wants to remember.  He's always got a bookmark in one of the blog books and checks in online every week.

Adam loves Chick-fil-a.  A LOT.  I tried to get him to say he was getting tired of it the week of his birthday by ordering nuggets multiple times, but he hasn't eased up on his devotion in the slightest.  He's hopeful that is first job will be at Chick-fil-a.

Adam remains the 100% most chill member of our family.  He play happily and easily, goes with the flow when other people have big ideas or and reacts to strong opinions with a shoulder shrug and a smile.  There isn't much that gets a rise out of Adam... except wasps and other flying nuisances.  The fear is real and he will gladly go down and out the basement door to avoid the wasps that tend to be more present around the side of the house.
Adam is my snuggler.  He has officially reached the point where he will resist showing physical affection to me in front of non-family members, but when it's just us he's still my snuggly buddy- putting his arm around me, asking for back scratches or holding hands.  And there are still kisses "on the yips" but I'm not sure that will last much longer.

Adam is still losing teeth, and he often looses his teeth after he looses them!  It usually takes a few nights of relocating misplaced tooth to get it safely situated under his pillow and traded out for some dollars from the tooth fairy.  Silly boy.
Just as tender as his heart is, Adam has a queasy stomach.  He still blanches as quiche, mufflets, or undercooked eggs, and he won't touch pancakes if he has even the slightest suspicion that there might be cottage cheese in them.  He had to endure two shots for his eleven-year-old well-child visit, and while he didn't resist or instinctively lash out at the nurse, he did turn a pale shade of green and required a cold washcloth, two cups of water, and a good five minute lay down to recover from the trauma of it all, poor thing.
Adam is extremely methodical and deliberate in his thinking.  This is why LEGO is his other love language, after physical touch.  He takes his time to process, analyze, ponder and improve on questions and ideas that are presented to him before he answers or moves forward, and this is definitely a skill that is going to serve him well in life.

Adam's party trick is his ability to out-chug anyone.  I don't know how he downs full glasses of water so quickly, but I am grateful that he's already pinky-promised me that he will always keep the Word of Wisdom and will only use this crazy trick with water.  ;)
Adam LOVES Laney with all of his heart.  He loves to snuggle her, lay with her, scratch her belly, rub her ears, haul her up to the top bunk to sleep with him, teach her tricks, and just overall ooh and aah at her cuteness all day every day.
He still says "Ooh!  You're just so CUTE!" several times a day- he loves his pup!
And we love him!  Adam is growing up so fast- five feet and 3/4 inches at his last doctor's appointment, and definitely still growing.  He's starting to exhibit the hollow leg with certain foods and has started to value the joy of sleeping in just a bit more than he used to.  He's so smart and so kind and such a good friend, brother, and son.  Happy birthday big boy!  We all love you!!
