Emma's First Play

Emma had the exciting and amazing opportunity to participate in her first play this December! It was a huge commitment- practices up to six days a week for up to three hours at a time- but she absolutely loved it.  She loved the environment, the friends, the challenge of learning lines and blocking and choreography, all of it.  It was a fantastic first play, and I have a feeling it won't be her last!

She basically lived here for the second half of November and the first half of December, and she never complained about the long days with school and other obligations or missed events because of her commitment to the play.  There were three shows.  On opening night Daddy and I went, along with her best school friend Cora and her mom, her best church friend Camille and her mom, and Joseph and Sister Gale. 

The second night Daddy and Noah went, along with President Helton and Campbell.  This was the night the Christmas tree fell over mid-scene, but the show must go on!

And at final show Leah, Adam and I were joined by Megan and Findlay Murdoch.  We had several sweet other friends who wanted to attend but all of the shows were sold out!

One last peak into the greenroom before striking the set. 

Emma told me she was going to cry when the show was over, and she promptly did as soon as we were in the car.  It was such a special experience for her, those are mostly happy tears!

But there was still a cast party to get to!

This might have been my favorite part of the whole experience.  Everyone cheered when Greg (Louie) walked into the house!  He played across Emma when she was Nora Minorah.  My favorite role of Emma's was the enthusiastic store clerk.  Her main character was named Taylor, and Emma played her part well!

At the party, I got to visit with the original founder and several members of the directors board of the theater while Emma ran around giggling with all of her new friends before sitting down and having a 'future in theater' chat with her director Miranda.  It was a sweet night and a bittersweet way to wrap up her first theater experience!  Congratulations on a fantastic first job in theater well done Emma!
