Daddy had a birthday! He wanted to take everyone to a hibachi grill to experience the fun of having your food cooked right in front of you. Everyone was a little nervous about having flames in their face, but no one lost any eyebrows.
We had another birthday brush with fire when we tried to put a full lit 42 candles on Daddy's birthday cake. It lit up the whole room and only three of us suffered a mild burn trying to get all of the candles lit.
What a nice surprise from my girls!
Daddy's birthday was on a Monday this year, so it was another full weekend of celebrating. Sunday meant cinnamon rolls!
And church and choir and our traditional stake presidency advent dinner and service project and poinsettia deliveries. It was a busy Sunday!
And finally, on the actual big day, there were just a few things left to check off the standard birthday celebration package- a lunch date with Mommy, a massage (always an adventure), and hidden presents! I stumped him this year with fantastically vague clues about the bookshelves, the dryer, and the basement bathroom.
And since everyone loves a surprise on their birthday, we gave Daddy all of the Cinnamon Toast Crunch foods I could find. And a pup that really wanted to be on his lap.
At 42, he is perhaps too young to consider a mid-life crisis or a full head of gray hair just yet. My prediction is that by this time next year, Adam will officially be taller than his dad. Happy birthday to Daddy! We love you!
