Nothing makes us quite so happy as having visitors in Iowa! Auntie Al came back and we were all delighted. There were lots of games and magic tricks and talents to share!
Laney couldn't quite figure out why she knew and liked this lady so much, but quickly remembered- she gives the best scratches!
We had Monday off, so we took her up to Hickory Park in Ames- a place that I assured her was all about the nostalgia and the penny candy,
not the quality of the food. Get those wafers away from me!
The ice cream is always the best part!
We took advantage of the warm evening and headed over to check out the High Trestle Bridge in the dark.
That turned out to be quite an adventure because the last time we were there we rode bikes and parked somewhere else, so we forgot that we could bypass the unpaved trail in favor of the actual road, which would have been ideal for our scooters and roller blades and hoverboard. It was getting dark quickly, and we eventually made it on to the path, just in time for Jason and Laney to meet us and for the coyotes to start howling. It was just a little spooky but mostly a super fun adventure. And a good reminder- stay on the straight and narrow path!
We dedicated a good chunk of the visit to bringing Susan to life-

I tried my first McDonald's hamburger and Diet Coke. The company was great! The meal was about as good as Hickory Park.
It was warm enough that we even built a fire one night!
And little ol' Iowa offered the perfect final night's activity for the girls- a candlelight Taylor Swift string quartet concert at the beautiful World Food Prize Building!
This was the perfect girly night out- dressing up, pink drinks, candles and TS music!
And all too soon we had to take her back to the airport... until next time!
