The sunsets are spectacular,
the birds are beautiful, (last week we spotted a pair of bald eagles resting in the lower branches of the trees!)
and you just never know who you're going to find in the yard each day.
That tiny speck in the middle of the picture just above the grayish-brown dead grass (not to be confused with the yellow-ish-brown dead grass at the top or the greenish brown dead grass at the bottom, can you tell we're all so over winter?!) is a coyote that I sat and watched for a solid 15 minutes early one morning. He started just inside our yard and then wandered down into the grasses and he was fascinating. There was a deer in the grass too, who stood still the entire time he was wandering around.
He looked just like this, my phone camera just isn't quite as capable as Google. I told the kids all about him, and we named him Jonty after one of our current-favorite YouTubers' sidekicks.
We didn't see him again all day, but Laney bolted right after him at dusk when he was trundling across our backyard again. She stopped as soon as she realized that what she was smelling was definitely not a deer or a bunny, and Daddy (to the rescue!) hurried out and picked her up and brought her back in to safety. We haven't seen Jonty again, but we look for him every morning and night!
Where we live there is always something exciting going on!
