Noah turned nine in October! His golden birthday- nine years old on the 9th. We had a full weekend of celebrating, and since he's taking a morning off from school, he's going to help me blog about it!
Celebration number 1- the party!
Noah and his four best friends went to Get Air for some trampoline time.
They played dodgeball, did the ninja courses, and played tag.
It was a lot of fun and not a lot of planning on my part, which was a nice change from our usual theme birthday parties. Everyone had a great time, and no one broke any bones!
Back at home we celebrated with lots of gold!
Noah wanted an ice cream cake with all of his favorite candies on top, and it was delicious.
What to wish for....
Yay! He just told me his wish came true for his birthday- he got the retired Lego set he was hoping for!
After dinner, cake and presents, these boys were ready for some more outside fun- Ghost in the Graveyard with glowsticks! I heard more than one child shriek when they were discovered in the dark. It was a great birthday party!
Celebration number 2- family fun!
Breakfast in bed with orange rolls and quiche-
(so many things of note in this picture- the socks that are actually bedding for a rubber chicken, the mass of stickers on the bunkbed, Button and Tigey, the faithful friends sitting next to Noah, the clip lamp that is on for hours each night, the tie-dyed shirt that is getting a bit small but is so soft, and most of all, the twinkle in the birthday boy's eye!)

Look at this handsome young man!
I love those squishy cheeks! As the last remaining member of our family who is not yet facing puberty, Noah is especially delightful with his smooth baby skin and sweet smelling self!
Why does it look like I just slapped him across the face? We had to take these pictures twice because my phone was taking blurry photos the first time around, maybe we were getting a bit silly by this point.
Noah picked IHOP for his birth-date, but first we stopped by Target to swap out some sets. He wasn't sure about taking Legos into the restaurant even though we assured him it was no big deal. Noah is 100% a rule follower and enforcer, so Legos at the table in a restaurant seemed especially wrong.
He was very happy when his "pancake the size of my head" arrived!
And of course we had the usual birth date talk. This year's reaction was, "You've done that?! Ugh, I can't unsee that now. Gross!!" Indeed. It was a great night though!
And celebration number 3 was Noah's actual birthday! We went to church and Noah was equally delighted that I didn't get him an "It's my birthday" pin to wear and that he did get a new gold tie clip from Grandma. It turns out that Adam's tie clip was the broken one, and Noah didn't think twice about handing his old one over to his brother so they could both have one again.
In the evening we had the stake mission prep group at our house for dinner and while Noah was more than happy to spend that time in his room with his best brother and his new Legos, he came down for ice cream and everyone (about 20 teens and a few adults) sang him happy birthday one more time! It was a great celebration of our best buddy boo!
Let's list 9 truths about Noah-
1. Noah is very easy going. He is happiest when he is with Adam playing Legos in their room, or working hard on his Captain Peanut comic book.
2. Noah is a smart boy! He's in the "Thinking Club" at school and that means solving extra math problems for fun, which he loves.
3. Noah is a loyal friend. Jack continues to be his best school friend, and the one he is most interested in spending his time with both on the playground and outside of school.
4. Noah talks to girls and he has made some good new female friends in class this year. It's adorable to hear him talk about the Carrots Club and how he and his friends chase each other around at recess. He tells me all about it with a happy smile.
5. Noah plays the piano beautifully, and is currently delighting us all with Take On Me.
6. Noah reads the Book of Mormon every night. Usually with Daddy or Mommy, but sometimes he just does it by himself and he asks big questions that make it clear that he is thinking hard about what he is learning. He has a strong testimony!
7. Noah is still trying out laughs. All of our kids did it, and the jury is still out on which one is going to stick (no one is voting for the yuk-yuk-yuk or the high-pitched yahahahaha).
8. Noah loves to ride his scooter and hates to ride his bike. I think Bear Lake might have ruined him for this year, but next year he's going to be ready for a bigger bike and hopefully he'll remember how much he loves riding!
9. Noah is so tender- he gives me hugs and pets my hair and gives me new hairstyles while I tuck him in. He sometimes likes to brush his sister's hair and he is just a gentle sweetheart all around. If Noah is upset or crying, you know something is pretty serious.
We are so happy to have such a wonderful young man in our family! He occasionally laments that it's not easy being the youngest- everyone else is bigger and taller and faster and knows more than him, but I have assured him many times that that won't always be the case, especially since he's growing up so fast. But he'll always be my little baby, no matter what. Happy golden birthday Noah! We love you!
