Tug-of-War
Father-Son Cheeto Toss
Crawling Baby Contest
Emma was technically out-skilled in this event, but I snuck her in anyway.
Hands and knees? This is so last month!
I know a much better way!
Victory! Second place champion!
Events like this- our last fall opening social in this ward- make me just a bit sad. There is something very comforting- and comfortable- about looking around a group of a hundred or more people and knowing every single person. Remembering late night conversations at girls nights out, holidays celebrated together, testimony building experiences, trials shared, service performed together, and lasting friendships formed. And realizing that we're headed to a place where we will have to start all over again. Unlike when we moved to Purdue, we don't have connections with anyone in Iowa. No old mission companions, no BYU 85th ward veterans, nothing. We will be starting completely fresh. And we'll get to the comfortable place again eventually, but getting there- being on the other side of the getting-to-know-you conversation again- makes me feel a bit... tired. And grateful to be surrounded by friends that are like family for a few months longer.
