Emma Grace was baptized on her 8th birthday.
Hers is the first baptism we've had in Iowa instead of Utah, and it was a beautiful day.
Grandma and Grandpa Henscheid were here,
and Grandma Morales came out for the big day too!
A lot of preparation went into Emma's big day, and the best part of all was having "baptism class" with her and talking about what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ, how to repent, and how to live a happier life as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

There were lots of friends at Emma's baptism- her Primary teachers and nursery leaders and activity day leaders and people who just love her. It was so sweet to be surrounded by so many friends on Emma's big day!

When I asked Emma how she wanted to celebrate after her baptism, she told me she wanted to have a garden tea party with just our family in her beautiful baptism dress. Phew! That didn't feel like a tall order until I started looking around for restaurants with al fresco dining options that might fit the bill and didn't find anything. I was starting to think we would have the luncheon in our own backyard when I remembered the amazing backyard garden of a friend from church. They were willing to let us use their backyard for our family luncheon and it turned out just perfect.
Jason brought Emma and the rest of the family- we hadn't told her where we were going to be celebrating, and boy was she surprised!
It was so! hot! at the luncheon. We enjoyed all of Emma's favorite foods and drank tons of pink lemonade and just enjoyed being together as a family.

It was a beautiful day and such a fun way to celebrate Emma's decision to get baptized!
Her smile has been even wider than before since she has been baptized, and I've noticed that she's been very conscious about apologizing when she has done something that she knows she shouldn't have done. She's making good choices and we are so proud of her!
