After the last of our guests left, we kept our summer schedule nicely balanced between busy days of fun and fabulous days of freedom. This is a snapshot of the top ten moments of our last days of summer, in no particular order.

7. Possibly my favorite day, an afternoon in downtown Des Moines at the State Historical Museum of Iowa, starting off with cake on the roof, complete with a amazing view of the capital building!

Everyone's favorite exhibit was the Civil War encampment, which we had to duplicate when we got home.
