Easter

Our Easter weekend was packed full of fun, starting off with our annual Easter egg hunt.  This is the fifth year we've done this, and the fifth year we've had rotten weather for it.  I guess that makes it a tradition.

 We only lasted about 40 minutes for breakfast and egg hunting combined before the wind and threat of rain drove us back home.  But still, we had a great time visiting with friends and musing about why, exactly we live where we live on days like this.  

 General Conference overlapped with Easter weekend again this year, so the bulk of our weekend was dedicated to listening to the words of our new church president and prophet Russell M. Nelson and other church leaders.  And what a historical conference it was!  Exciting changes are happening.

Around 5:30 on Saturday afternoon I remembered that we needed to dye Easter eggs!

The kids took on the task and needed hardly any help from me to make their creations.  They're growing up so fast.  We usually dye eggs outside, but it was far too miserable out this year.  And the only cup of dye that was spilled happened to be yellow on a yellow rug.  Not bad, and it was a moment that I wonder if the kids will remember that I kept my cool and did not freak out over the spill.  I hope so- that skill has taken me years to perfect!

Easter is such a wonderful, low-key holiday in our home.  

 It also happened to be April Fools Day, so there were a fair number of tricks going around that day.

Leah earned the title of Tricker of the Year- she drew on every glass surface upstairs with a dry erase marker, colored Emma's face (Adam colored Noah's), covered my mirror with sticky notes, put saran wrap on all of our toilets and faucets, put dried glue that was supposed to look like spilled milk on Daddy's computer, and colored an uncooked egg and stuck it among the dyed Easter eggs for me to smash and make a mess of a few days later.  In return, I toilet papered her room, threw a glass of cold water on her while she was taking a shower, and hid a plastic bug in one of her Easter eggs.  Trickery clearly runs in our family.

On a more serious note, we talked about the miraculous resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ, and enjoyed making resurrection rolls and watching videos from the life of Christ before conference.

And once conference started, we snuggled down for another day of listening and pondering.

With the help of the kids, we finished this one in one day!

 And naps, of course.

And then we FaceTimed grandparents and enjoyed a delicious Easter dinner with some friends.  Of which I took just a few pictures.

All in all, it was a glorious Easter celebration!
