The Highlights of Spring

My faithful blog reader Noah was surprised to learn that I am 100% in control of when "the next blog book will be released".  He's always studying up on this little family history of ours, so I'd better keep the stories coming.  If I were to blog every day, it would be a whole lot of lowlights- the sameness of waking up to alarms, eating breakfast before we're really hungry, marching out the door for another good but long day of school and work and errands and church and life, gathering back at home for dinner and a few hours of cocooning and more to-do's and bedtime before we're really ready for it so we can get it up and do it all over again tomorrow.  Those are the lowlights.  Thank goodness the blog is all about the highlights!
Spring is definitely springing!  There is finally green everywhere again and blossoms are popping on all of the trees and the countdown to summer has officially begun! Literally, in the girls bathroom.
The end of the school year is starting to rev up with testing and events and more outside recess, but we still have a lot of regular days to get through before this year is over.
To shake things up, we went to see the Mario movie this week.  These besties were happy to reunite after another long day at school.  Thanks to the popcorn party we now know how to get more popcorn for the same price. since the movie theaters don't do free refills anymore, we just got the popcorn pillow instead.
Laney most of all will be happy when that big yellow monster stops gobbling up her babies every morning and then spitting them out every afternoon.
This school year has been a good one for all of the kids.  They have had great teachers, learned new things, and made new friends, some in the neighborhood.  Noah drew me a delightfully accurate map of our house and backyard, the lake across the street, and the road to 'her house', a classmate that is also a neighbor!
At home, Jason has taken on the first project of the year- adding much needed lighting to the basement.
At church, we celebrated the completion of the stake president's 67 talk challenge with 50 youth from our stake! We celebrated with laser tag, pizza, so much candy, and arcade games.
That was a super fun day.
And Jason and I spent a sunny spring day at the Iowa Religious Freedom Symposium, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite annual events in Iowa. I adore our downtown, and spring sightings were everywhere! (The other day in the car Emma starting saying 'ding' every time she spotted a blossom tree.  I liked that happy sound and have started doing it too.  We are celebrating spring this year!)
We spent the day at the beautiful World Prize Building.  We haven't been here since the year we moved to Iowa and I forgot just how stunning it is.
Isn't Daddy so lucky to get to pose with such a cutie?
Don't let his smile fool you, he loves it when I make that face!
Spring, spring, spring, HOORAY!!!!
