One Man's Trash...

...makes me Mom of the Year.

I pulled an un-colored cottage (the $30 cardboard box kind that I've never bought for fear that it would be mindlessly scribbled upon and forgotten about in a matter of days) and a discarded Ikea coffee table with a wobbly leg off some curbs this week, rendering me the Best. Mom. Ever.

Adam's introduction of the the table to Emma went something like this- "Emma!  Dis is our new craft table!  It is bigger dan our old table!  It changed by magic but not with a wand.  We took it from someone else but it wasn't stealing because dey didn't want it and we can't jump on it because it has a woobly foot!"

We set up a more functional craft corner in our living room and the kids have been creating masterpieces non-stop for days now.  Our new-found treasure is also moonlighting as a train table.

The cottage has been decorated with painstaking attention to detail by Leah.  The address is 136 Flower Lane (the ages of it's residents) and has their names penned above the "bedroom window".  Emma likes to pop her head out of the window and say, "ta-da!" and Adam likes to pop out of the front door and exclaim, "Ma Salema!" (Egyptian for good-bye).

I love these kind of treasures.  Should they choose to abuse or forget about them they will go right back where they came from with nary a bat of my eyelash.  Just another reason to support my theory that kids do not need toys... at least not ones that were purchased with my money.  Now if I could just remember to put that theory into practice....
