Wrapping Up

As we finish up our time here in Indiana, we've started wrapping up some of the activities we've been involved in.  First up, I stopped teaching piano lessons in December.  This was a bittersweet one- I loved teaching my students- it gave me an excuse to sit at the piano, gave me something else to think about besides the not-always-crucial homemaking tasks at hand, and gave me some money to contribute to our family.  It was necessary to stop, though, as Jason needs to be spending every waking moment writing, and 4 hours a week was a long time for the kids to be left to their own devices upstairs.

I held a recital at Heritage Healthcare in December, and I was so very pleased with how it went.  My heart was just bursting with pride- each of the students played perfectly, and we ended the night with a sing-along with the residents.  What could be less intimidating than performing for nearly deaf elderly people?  And they truly seemed to enjoy the ruckus the kids made as they sang The 12 Days of Christmas.

Jason took the kids to gymnastics on Thursday nights while I taught piano lesson, and they wrapped another session of that up in December as well.  From what I've gathered the kids had a great time- Leah on the balance beam, Adam on the bars, and Emma trying to sneak into their classes unnoticed.  We're hoping to fit another session in before we move.  Adam especially has a great time at gymnastics- and the energy, strength, and flexibility required to make it fun!

Leah also completed another session of ballet with her beloved Miss Sarah.  She really seems to enjoy dancing, and did a great job learning her routine.  The fall showcase was nothing at all like the spring performance (no costumes, stage or bright lights to hide the size of the audience), and  I was so proud of her for performing her routine in front of so many faces!

And lastly, Jason got released from his calling as Elder's Quorum President (yes, this is his third time in the calling.  Let's hope he got it right this time!)  I am still working as the secretary for Relief Society, and loved helping out with the ward Christmas party- A Night In Bethlehem.  I was in charge of the nativity (performed by the youth) and thought it turned out just fine.

We have been so blessed to work with so many amazing people in our ward.  I'm grateful that we have the church waiting for us in Iowa.  That means we will have a support system in place as soon as we get there.

Those bittersweet moments are always some of the best and worst before a move! Love that your kids are so involved in things!

Thanks for posting this! The video of Leah and Lilly dancing was great. I'm so glad Adam and Leah did gymnastics. It is so fun! The recital was really great too. Thanks so much for letting us be a part of it!

p.s. If you would like to go do something one of these morning when Jason is working away let me know!
