As soon as the sun was up I was on my way to see the most highly anticipated sight of our entire trip - the Atlantic Ocean! Our hotel, which was built in 1932, had a private walkway straight to the beach.
There is nothing so magical as following a sandy boardwalk to the water.
The beach was perfect, and so was breakfast! Easily the best breakfast of the trip.
We were definitely there in the off-season – we basically had the place to ourselves – but the hotel staff was so helpful and gathered up beach chairs and towels for us, which Adam graciously packed down to the beach for us.
It was too chilly to really get in the water but we all felt our wilted winter spirits rehydrate as we dipped toes in and were hypnotized by the rolling waves.
Heading to Jeanette's Pier!
George absolutely loved seeing the ocean, we'll assume for the first time.
Ridiculous.
Realistic.
The pier was cool, but the fishermen were even cooler!
Most of us were brave enough to pet the dogfish!
And some even held him!
We were all happy to watch him splash back down into the water and swim away to freedom.
Back to the chairs and ready for a snooze. This is the Father doing a very fatherly thing.
And the kids set to work building a castle, with a moat and a seashell throne for King George.
And a private pool!
He even got to adventure out to sea, and some of the kids were genuinely concerned that he might be pulled out, never to return again.
What an adventure!
