Personal Progress

Leah has set the goal of finishing her Personal Progress program for Young Women this year, with the plan to complete one of the 8 values every month for the next 8 months.  Each month includes several experiences that include scripture reading, journaling and activities that help teach the value, as well as a project that takes at least 10 hours to complete.
For January she chose Divine Nature.  Her project was preparing to fulfill one of her divine roles as a woman of being a homemaker and caregiver by making Sunday dinners for the whole month (what a treat for me!).   We had several good conversations bout the importance of nurturing your family, how making meals shows love, and the importance of working together as a team with your spouse to take care of your family.  Those topics seem so far away for Leah, but heaven help me if she gets married when she's 18- that's just 6 years away!  I'm so glad we're talking about these things now so she can recognize the importance of knowing who she is as a daughter of God.

For February she chose Integrity, and decided to make a modest dress that would reflect respect for herself and her body.  She picked out the fabric and pattern with the help of her Beehive advisor,
cut out the pattern with the help of Grandma, and spent last Friday night creating this beautiful dress!
She did such a great job, and looks so beautiful in the dress!

Now she is well on her way to complete the Good Works value in March, which will include another trip to the temple with family file names that she has prepared.  I just love this girl, and I love this program and the values it gives young women an opportunity to study and practice!
