We had a beautiful snow storm last week, so I've been enjoying picture perfect walks every morning (often with the company of Grandma).
The girls and I took a beautiful walk together- past the treehouse and the firepit
and down one of my favorite little paths
to the other creek bed.
The kids call this one Hobs CRK because it's at the bottom of the most treacherous hill in the yard.
But nothing looks too scary with this much snow. Just peaceful and pure, even the aftermath of the derecho.
We checked out the kids hideout, complete with a puppy path.
Then went up the hill and past a few more Christmas trees
and we found the boys!
Who were having their own adventure on the sledding hill.
One good bump provides hours of fun!
That is one steep hill! These kids are much braver than I am!
Of course, we're not the only ones who are enjoying the snow. We've seen as many as 8 deer at a time wandering through the yard, sometimes in a bigger rush when being chased by a buck, sometimes happy to stay a while, to the utter torture of Laney, who is generally not permitted to chase them because she's started going into the woods after them.
Most of the birds we saw regularly in the summer are gone, but we do see the same big bald eagle soaring overhead almost every day, and the occasional cardinal, blue jay and blue warbler add a splash of color to the otherwise perfectly white scenery. It seems every living thing is enjoying this winter wonderland!
